Technology in use
So much happening on the technology stage at the moment that's notable, including AI that everyone was thinking wasn't going to be terribly useful, but has turned out to be a helper in some things that are actually useful and unlikely that we'll be strangled by our vacumn cleaners any time soon. Even if you just use it for fun, it can be a real time saver. It's useful for making some boring tasks less tedious, especially when writing "code".
so an unordered list of things that I use.
- The OSX terminal / aliases / tp / pbcopy and sooo much more.
- Microsoft co-pilot is simple. It can't do everything, but it tries hard. Tip: It's like learning to search with a search engine for the first time. You need to know what to ask for it to work effectively.
- https://www.craft.do - soooo much functionality, but lots of useful things - the team is working at warp 12 and kicking out updates all the time
- Tapo / Kasa / Hive all work very well 'nuff said
- https://protonvpn.com - best I've used at this point, but CyberGhost and tunnel bear get good mentions too.
- Wireguard is useful for making connections to your home IP. It is also handy for accessing a spare Pi you have.
- all of the rogue amoeba products - which just do what they say and work nearly all the time.
That's all for now…
